The Environmental Biotechnology Program (PBA) aims to train highly qualified professionals through teaching, research, and continuing education, focusing on the development of innovative biotechnological products and processes, as well as intellectual, technological, and social advances. The goal is to train human resources to generate and disseminate scientific knowledge with an integrated view of socio-environmental and economic dimensions, working in areas such as molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, and the environment. It also seeks to promote the sustainable use of organisms for industrial purposes and encourage technologies aimed at environmental conservation, always respecting ethical and legal principles and the health of living beings.

O Researcher Alexandre Lima Nepomuceno, 55, has been selected to take over as Head of Embrapa Soja, one of the research units of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, based in Londrina (PR). His term began on October 1 and will last for two years, with the possibility of two two-year extensions. Nepomuceno replaces researcher José Renato Bouças Farias, who led the company from 2013 to September 2020 and who bids farewell and thanks his partners in his statement.

Professor Rosane Marina Peralta, from the Department of Biochemistry (DBQ) at the State University of Maringá (UEM), was the winner of the 2019 Brazilian Women in Chemistry and Related Sciences Award in the “Leadership in Academia” category. The award, organized by the American Chemical Society (ACS) in partnership with the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ), recognizes outstanding careers in science. Congratulations on the recognition!
